Get out the sketchbook
I am working on creating more sketches these days for new and improved ideas and just thought I would show a few of them. I have many sketchbooks for over about 2 decades that are just chalk full of ideas and designs. When I am in a pinch of trying to do something new I often refer to the sketchbooks for new
inspiration. You never know what you will find when you revisit something you passed on.
I am in the process of digitally putting some of these crazy flowers into a design. I am quite the novice at digital art eventhough when I designed children's wear back in the early 90's I was quite good at it. However since I stopped using computers and mostly painted I lost all that knowledge so I fear I must take a class, possibly at Mass Art. Or maybe I will get a tudor, if you know of any good ones in the Boston area let me know!!
So now I am getting ready for my oldest son's First Communion this weekend and he was fighting me yesterday trying on the white suit. He was exclaiming " I hate the color white" to which I exclaimed white is the absence of color so technically it's not a color. He was not buying it!! I have to tell you that white was my
favorite "color"as a kid until my artist dad told me it was not a color!! Thanks dad! Bummer. Anyway he will
be wearing the suit kicking and screaming but he will look so handsome in it. We are not having a big party since most of my husbands family is out of the state and some of mine as well. Its going to be about 10 of us which suits me fine after we just had his bday party last weekend!
Okay enough floundering off to do something fabulous! Like order a tasty cake and buy and outfit!
Ellen

Hi Ellen!
Thanks for adding me to your blogroll:)
I wrote a bit about the process of making a wood collage digitally under your comment:)
I also consider white a colour (not for printing purposes though).
I have three girls and it's amazing how even though they are all mine , none of us have the same taste. They always want to dress in fru fru against my will. Amazing how soon the cool factor comes into play as well.
Cheers:) helen.

Great sketches, I'm sure they'll become excellent prints! You can always ask me computer stuff, I don't promise to know it all but I can usually help with technical things. My nephew (near you) had to do the white suit thing a few years back too. He seemed to dig it. Somehow, it was very 'p.diddy' looking! Funny, I've never seen the white suit for communion anywhere other than the s.shore.? My other nephew in NH will just have a blue suit next month, I wonder why the difference?

I love old sketchbooks. I do the same thing - they are really great for ideas to flesh out.

Cute owls Ellen! I think if you take a class you will pick it up really quickly. I wish I lived closer so I could teach you!

Great sketches - I wish I did this, I never save my old sketches. I have a trip in a few weeks to NY, you have inspired me to take my sketch book and do some sketching. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey...a question for you. How are you digitally working with your sketches? I would like to do the same and I'm thinking about taking a class a the local community college. But which class?? I just am at the hobby level, but I'd love to learn the tools - and maybe teach to my kids. So what program do I learn? Many of my sketches are freakishly similar to yours on this page (well, but yours are far cuter).
