Everytime I get into NYC I have to pay a visit to my friend Ron's studio. You never know what will be on the walls here. The last time I was here they were working on a huge mural for Tavern on the Green. This time it was a bunch of different ones. This is just a simple mural that was in their kitchen area I thought I would like to show.
Here is one of the new murals for a clients home bowling alley!! Yes folks this is for someones own bowling alley in their mansion basically and this particular one is for the owners of the company Homedics. They make those beauty products like foot spas. This mural depicts a scene in Isreal during sun rise.
another look towards the end of the mural.
This palm tree is at the very end of the mural and the details are amazing.
Here is my friend Ron working on a sample piece to show a client which was a wooden panel that had many glazes on it as well as crackle to look like its been around for over a hundred years.
This is a view from the studio's small deck/balcony in which you can see the buildings that are close to the Hudson River. Ron's studio is on 37th b/ 8th and 9th ave so for me its a short walk to the Javits Center from here.
After that I went up to Ron and Hank's apt where I stayed for the remainder of my trip. They have a duplex apt on 51st which is soo convienent to stores and restaurants, and the best thing about the apt. is the outside and here is why!!
The roofdeck!!! Its the best and full of lush greenery. They have these beautiful Japanese Maple trees along with Lilacs and Foxgloves and all kinds of other plants.
It is a 3 tiered one and the bottom of it has their lounge chairs and a grill and a beautiful wall with ivy growing. The top one is in need of redoing because it takes longer to water if they plant up there, but years ago they had grape vines and a hammock up there.
That night we set out for a restaurant that I have been trying to go to for awhile called Buddakan. This is located in the meatpacking district of Manhattan and boy did it deliver!!
Since Ron has major friends in high places we were able to score a table in the main dining room for 5 at 8pm on a Friday. It usually takes 3 months to get a reservation but not for us!! This room is amazing with its
40ft ceilings and large chandeliers, we had a great corner booth that looks out onto the whole room.
Here is a photo of my two fabulous friends Ron and Hank at Buddakan, and after dinner we went back to the apt. to have drinks on the deck. I think I went to sleep around 2am which was not too bad considering the damage I could have done.
Well that was day one and I will be posting more of my NYC trip so stayed tuned.....
