I woke up like this

New Print- Kiss the Cook!

Ever wonder what happens to some of the crazy sketches I have in my books?? Well today I decided to take one of them and turn it into something.. and here it is!

This is a new print called Kiss the Cook which you can find in my shop.

I had fun taking that image of the bird with the chef hat and bringing it up to the next level by turning him into a full blown image. I don't know what I would do without my sketch books since they are a vast supply of inspiration and the true beginnings of what turns out to be my illustrations or product designs. I think over the years I have filled about 10 or so and I am still filling them as we speak.

As you may have noticed I have been a little absent on my blog.. that is due to the fact I was on a vacation or these days people call it a staycation since we stayed at home and just did things locally. I had to cut it short and get back to work though, there is just too much to do in this next month and I really needed to get a head start.If we did go away I would have brought my sketchbook and possibly filled it with new images from my travels or ideas I had in my head while hanging out on the beach. I was reminded recently about that by a friend and felt sad that I had nothing new in my book.I promise when I go to LA in October, I am bringing the book and filling it with all kinds of pictures and ideas, that I could share later. Until then I know that summer is winding down and everyone is getting ready for the upcoming school year.. so enjoy what little you have left of your vacation.. I know I will!!

p.s did I ever tell you I am an amazing cook?? I hate to toot my own horn, but this is true and I have witnesses to prove it!! One day I will share some recipes I have flowing in my head!

Birthday Boy

Can it be true that today is my little guys 6th Birthday?? It is hard to believe that he is 6 years old today but it is true. I remember his birth like it was yesterday.. how I broke my water that morning and then my husband and I dropped off my oldest at daycare, and then drove into Boston to have my beautiful boy. I was thankful for the commuter lane that day since the other ones into Boston were bumper to bumper because you see it was prime time for traffic.

It was like the perfect birth scenario.. wake up, break water, drop off first child and then head to the hospital. How could this get any better?? I will tell you how.. and this is his favorite part of all.. I decided to jack up the Epidural since when my first was born it wore off when I had to push and boy did I feel that pain..so this time I was going to feel nothing. However as soon as I did that and was about to take a nap the nurse came in and told me I was plus 2 and it was time?? What?? Are you kidding me?? They of course thought that because I took the extra drugs it would be awhile for me since I couldn't feel much, but this little boy wasn't waiting he was coming out! The nurse told me to hold it since the doctor was not across the street yet ( my doc office was right across from Brigham and Womens). I told her "are you kidding me, no way!" and before you knew it she was there and he was out like a rocket!

Colby was born!!

When it came time to weight him the nurse asked my husband to take a guess at his weight and he said "oh I don't know since its August 11 how about 8/11?" and do you know what his weight was? Yup you guessed it 8/11!!! what are the odds of that??

To all you Leo's out there I hope you have a wonderful birthday and to my special little Leo , you are the brightest star in my world and its been such a joy watching you grow!!
